COMS 1005 Introduction to Computer Science and Programming in MATLAB
(Columbia University-Spring 2009)

Course In-Charge: Prof. G. Michael Schneider

Other partnering Teaching Assistants: Minita Jalan Shah

Description: I helped Prof. Schneider and Minita co-ordinate the exercise and the grading for the regular home-works along with the Examination material. In addition to that, I used to assist and guide students by clearing their doubts during my regular TA office hours. Guiding young minds was an enjoyable challenge as every single student had a different approach to analyse the same given problem and it was our duty to show them the light at the end of the tunnel. From my own experience of being a student, I had realized the fact that students do need and deserve to get detailed feedbacks regarding their own version of solution and thus, I had decided to be transparent and sent personalized grading information via email to each student pertaining to the areas where marks were deducted. This helped the student to realize his mistake well within time and clear the concepts. I also enjoyed mentoring the students in the Homework 6 (pertaining to Monte Carlo simulation) and Homework 7 (simulation of ECG using GUI components). Overall, it was an amazing learning experience for me.
